Star Troupe II Auditions

Calling all Level 2, Beg 1 & Beg 2 dancers!
 
We will be having auditions for our award winning Star Troupe II this coming Sunday, August 21st. The Dance Academy's Star Troupe dancers participate in community events, dance conventions and compete in regional competitions and showcases. This is a great opportunity for growth in both technique and performance skills. The audition does not mandate participation so come out if you and you dancer(s) are even just a little bit interested.
 
SUNDAY, AUG 21ST
4-5pm............Level 2 Audition
5-5:30pm........Parent Info Meeting (one parent/guardian for each auditioning dancer must be present, thanks)
5:30-6:30pm....Beg 1 & Beg 2 Audition

 

A heads up as well, Star Troupe II dancers will participate in a "JumpStart" to the year on Tues (30th), Wed (31st) and Thursday (1st) evenings for 1.5-2 hours. All other commitments will be discussed at the Parent Info Meeting.

It bears repeating!

We just wanted to say again.....Recital Weekend 2011 was fantastic! We presented our Dance Academy Showcase for the first year, used our largest prop to date, had some of the most beautiful and adorable numbers on the planet, and wore the most rockin costumes! Much love to all DASP dancers, you make our world and each of you did a fantastic job! ♥ Enjoy a little break and we will see you for summer classes! Email the studio to register/get more info.

Recital Week Reminders

The anticipation & excitement is building... our Dance Academy Showcase & Recital is this coming weekend!
 
In effort to help everyone, you will find in your email a document that should layout everything you need to know about this week's schedule (class, tech rehearsals, dress, rehearsals & show times) as simply as possible.
 
And some last reminders:
1. Please pick up and/or purchase tickets at the studio during the early part of the week, tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals or right before the shows.
2. Advance DVD purchase is recommended (cash or check only) and will be available after tech rehearsals or during dress rehearsals. Day of the show(s) purchases will be available as well.
3. Please come prepared with complete hair and make-up to your assigned dress rehearsal and show call time. This includes a slicked back bun (middle of the back of the head, no bangs, use gel!) for all classes except Tiny Tot I. Make-up should consist of foundation, blush, mascara, eye liner, lipstick (a natural red) and eyeshadow (dark brown, light brown & white right under the brow bone {colors will make your dancer look cross eyed under stage lights!}) Please no nail polish, stamps, jewelry and don't forget: no underwear under tights!
4. If you know you will need help with your dancer's hair bun or make-up please let Miss Ashley know during your tech rehearsal time and a meeting will be arranged prior to your dress rehearsal and/or the show.

Troupe II 5/21

Good Afternoon,
 
First, I would like to again say awesome job this past Saturday at Heartlands, the dances looked great! Even more importantly, the residents certainly adored our dancers and I hope our dancers understand how much it meant to them and felt pride in being able to give back.
 
Second, we only have 2 rehearsals left before the end of the year (omg!) so lets finish strong. Below is the schedule for this Saturday the 21st.

End of the Year Info

Good Evening,
 
It is the time of year again for lots of recital information! We are so excited to have our dancers show off their hard work.
 
First, this year we are introducing our Dance Academy of Severna Park Showcase which will feature soloists, duets and Star Troupe I & II. We invite all studio families, friends and relatives to join us for what we know will be an amazing show! The show will be on Friday, June 10th and tickets will be $5 sold in advance and at the door.
 
Second, all families have a $45 recital fee that will be due by May 10th. You will receive 4 complimentary tickets to the show of your choice. If you have two enrolled dancers your fee is $80. Extra tickets for the Saturday & Sunday shows are available for purchase in advance and at the door for $15.
 
Third, costumes will be distributed during your dancers' normal class time on the week of May 16th. If you are the parent of a younger dancer it would be advantageous to try to be at the studio during the last 15 minutes of their scheduled class time. Often teachers will invite parents in for a "costume review" and to share class specific information.
 
Fourth, more information will be released shortly but here are the basics of our recital weekend, June 10-12th. The Saturday night show (to begin at 7pm) features Beginner 1 to Advanced dancers. Dress rehearsal will be Friday at 4pm. The Sunday afternoon show (to begin at 1pm) features Tiny Tot I to Level 2 dancers. Dress rehearsal will be Saturday at noon. We will have an in studio rehearsal the week prior to the recital on Wednesday (for Friday and Saturday show) & Thursday (for Sunday show).

Troupe II 4/30 Rehearsal

Below is our schedule for rehearsal this Saturday, April 30th. Please pay special attention to the times as they are pushed back. Rehearsal will start at 12:30pm and finish at 2pm, with the ballet over I hope this does not cause too much of an inconvenience.

SPRING BREAK!

This is just a reminder that the studio is closed for spring break from Monday the 18th (today) to Monday the 25th. Enjoy the weather and time with family & friends.

JUMP 2011

Congratulations to all Star Troupe I & II dancers, we had a GREAT weekend at the JUMP convention in DC and are very proud of each and every one of you!

 

A double congratulations to the following dancers: Erin Diehl who was a VIP runner-up and winner of 2012 JUMP convention scholarship & eligibility to The Dance Awards' 2011 Nationals. AND Lizzy Biran, Mandy Griggs & McKenzi Priest who won JUMP class scholarships.
